Free Tools for Web Designers and Developers

As a web designer and developer, I always keep an eye of free resources and tools online. There are so many free stuff you can get online. When it comes to free tools or software that you find online, it is worth to bookmark the links, download it or make a list. You can always come back later to get it.

Here are a few lists that I made so far:

Filezilla

FileZilla is a free FTP solution. You can use it to upload your files to web hosting.

Notepad++

Notepad++ is a free source code editor. You can use it to edit your html files, css, JavaScript, etc.

Sublime text

Just like Notepad++, Sublime text is another text editor. You can use it to edit your codes. I personally prefer Sublime text over Notepad++ because of its convenient. Nevertheless they are best and free.

GitHub Desktop

GitHub Desktop is a must-have tool for every web developer. You can use it to sync your files to Github or contribute to projects on GitHub. It is easy to use and I recommend you use it. It is available for Windows and Mac users.

SourceTree app

SourceTree is a free git & mercurial client for Windows or Mac. Just like GitHub Desktop, SourceTree is software that you can use to sync files or contribute to projects hosted on bitbucket.

Tiny Png

Tiny png is a website compressor that uses smart lossy compression techniques to reduce the file size of png files. They also offer ready made extensions for WordPress and Magento that will compress all images automatically. I always use tiny png to compress my images before I upload them to my website. Tiny png is free to use so check it out.

Atom

Atom is another text editor you can use to edit your source codes. It has a modern look and design. In addition to that, it allows you to customize and style Atom the way you want it. It helps you write code better and faster with their autocomplete.

Vectr

Vectr is another popular free vector graphic software. It is an open-source software that has almost the same capabilities as Adobe Illustrator. Whether you are a professional designer or hobbyist, Inkscape is an excellent tool to create high quality graphics.

Mobirise

Mobirise is a free website builder that you can use to create website without the need to write the codes. It is designed to simplify the website making process. It is free for personal and commercial use. All you need to do is to drag and drop the blocks to create the web page. It is mobile-friendly, and you can host your web pages on your web hosting or Github Pages. Mobirise also offers paid adds on and themes that you can purchase from their dashboard.
